ISRO’s Aditya-L1 spacecraft has reached Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1) today i.e. on January 6, after covering a distance of 15 lakh km in 126 days. Spacecraft launch

Aditya L1 was launched at 11.50 am on September 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota using the XL version rocket of PSLV-C57. 63 minutes and 19 seconds after launching, the spacecraft was placed in Earth’s 235 Km x 19500 Km orbit.

Why L1 attached to spacecraft Aditya?

The distance between the Earth and the Sun is 15 crore kilometers. Meanwhile, there are 5 Lagrange points which are also known as L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5 points. Let us tell you that the Lagrange point is named after the Italian-French mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange. The gravitational force of the Sun and the Earth becomes balanced at these five points. Let us tell you that L1, L2, L3 keep changing their positions, but L4 and L5 points do not change their positions. ISRO’s first solar mission stop is L1, which is 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth. L1 has been added before Aditya because of the name of the first stop.

seven payloads

Seven scientific payloads have been deployed on Aditya. These include the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUITE), Solar Low Energy X-ray Spectrometer (Solexus), High-Energy L1 Orbiting X-ray Spectrometer (HEL1OS), which directly track the Sun. can do. There are three in-situ measuring instruments, which include Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX), Plasma Analyst Package for Aditya (PAPA), and Advanced Three Dimensional High Resolution Digital Magnetometer (ATHRDM).

Why is study of Sun important?

The Sun is the center of the solar system in which our Earth exists. Apart from this, all the eight planets revolve around the Sun. It is because of the Sun that there is both life and energy on Earth. We call these charged particles. By studying the Sun, it can be understood how changes in the Sun can affect space and life on Earth. Science says that there is an explosion of magnetic particles from the Sun, which can damage electronic items. This is called solar flare. When this flare reaches the Earth, the Earth’s magnetic field protects us from it. Let us tell you that if it collides with the satellites present in space, then they will get damaged and everything from communication system to other things on the earth will be stopped. Let us tell you that the largest solar flare hit the Earth in 1859, it is called the Carrington Event. According to the information, telegraph communication was affected at that time, hence ISRO wants to understand the Sun.
